Mute, also known as Célice Roque, is a vinyl-only artist from Strasbourg, France, making waves in the electronic music scene. With nearly a decade of experience, she has significantly shaped her local music landscape. She played a key role in the creation of Sens Inverse Records, a Strasbourg-based label that has released several EPs and left a lasting impact on the city’s bass music scene.
As a co-founder of a female electronic music collective, she is also a founding member of an associative shop that showcases around thirty artists and features a dedicated vinyl corner. Driven by her curiosity, the artist explores alternative venues, from underground raves to squats, while also performing in established clubs.
She records sound objects for platforms like Mutant Radio and Operator Radio, contributing to various hybrid projects. In June 2024, she co-produced the track “Make Some Noise,” with DJ HARPRO, featuring her vocals, which was released on the vinyl compilation “Have Fun.”
Mute’s artistic identity is shaped by a diverse range of influences, drawing from intense techno, electro break, and EBM sounds, infused with oblique punk waves and moments of introspection. Known for her vinyl-only sets, she delivers a trance dance experience behind her decks, creating a captivating journey for the dancefloor that she affectionately calls “her Pack (Sa Meute in French)”.
She has graced stages at notable events such as Tacheles & Schockwerk in Berlin, Silodom (Saarbrücken), Breakfest (Prague) Cave Underground Club (Madrid), Ground (Luxembourg) and she performs in France at the Silodom in Saarbrücken and the famous KALT Club in Strasbourg. This has allowed her to share the stage with esteemed artists like Funk Assault, Alarcio, Chlär, Linn Elisabet, DJ Stingray 313, Hyperaktivist, Projekt Gestalten, Fjaak, and Blawan.
Deeply committed to fostering a liberated scene, Mute organizes events like Parade and Make Some Noise, celebrating diverse expressions of art, including music, dance, performance, drag shows, and voguing.
